Freshman year is one of the most exciting years for high school graduates. They have just graduated and are really looking forward to all the fun that is coming up in college. Most are finally free and will live for the first time away from their parents without supervision. Finally a time to party your pants off.
Now with the advent of the academic year, incoming freshman have several decisions to make with one being the choice of dorms, which is one of the hugest they have to make for the year. Which dorm would we want to be in. For boys its either the dorm with the hottest girls, the closest to everything or the nicest rooms. For girls, its pretty much the same criteria with the boys. The other trouble will be the choice of roommates. For those who do not know anyone in college they cross their fingers hoping they are paired with someone cool while others who already had a bunch of friends coming to the same college look for the person who they interact the best with and roommate with them.
After all this decisions and picking the dorm and the roommate with whom you will spend a year of your life with, you may realize several months later that maybe this wasn’t worth it. They are many disputes with roommates, you may not go along with your floor mates as well you would have hoped and the dorm rooms are small and do not give you the liberty you would like as well as the liberty you would like. So the question can be asked. Are dorm rooms really “the must” for first year students.
People argue that for freshmen to enjoy the full college experience they will need to live in dorms and easily meet a lot of people. Meeting people is true but many times you may not interact properly with your mates and also living in an apartment off campus in a student neighborhood, you could easily as well meet numerous people.
Having your apartment in college may be a really cool way to enjoy your freshman year. You have your privacy and liberty and could easily have guests over with disturbing a roommate as well through your own kickbacks. We know that most college freshman always seek to go to parties or events search for parties from friends or the noticeboards in school, but with your apartment you could easily make your own party. You could easily invite your friends to hang over. There are no CAs to tell you to bring the noise down and stuff.
So in conclusion, I’ll say that having your own apartment would be much more funnier than the dorm room which may make you have a bad experience in college. If you have an apartment, go to classes and look around, you will not be lonely and will have friends and these friends will have other friends so you will meet people and enjoy yourself.
